BURNSVILLE MTB TEAM
The Burnsville Mountain Bike Team's mission is to #getmorekidsonbikes - building strong minds, strong bodies and strong character through cycling. Our vision is to introduce youth to a lifelong sport in cycling.
The primary goal of all team activities is to provide a Safe and Fun environment for our athletes so they discover cycling through the pillars of Fundamentals, Adventure, and Performance.
WHO CAN JOIN THE TEAM?
The Burnsville Mountain Bike team is a co-ed team for 6th-12th grade students who attend district #191 schools
Our team is also open to:
Students residing in the district who have elected to attend alternative schools (as long as those schools do not have a mountain bike team)
Homeschool students residing in the district
You do not need prior mountain biking experience to join.
The team accepts all interested riders, even if you participate in another Fall sport.
The MN Cycling Association can provide "loaner" bicycles and financial assistance.
Preseason events begin late May with 'try-it-out' sessions, a parent/athlete meeting, coaches training, and more!
Practice begins in July and runs through October.
Races occur August-October. (Note: Racing is optional. All athletes are encouraged to try racing, it is not required.)
The season includes a balance of Fundamentals (bike skills), Performance (fitness), and Adventure (exploration) for all riders regardless of whether they choose to race or not.
